Top BIPOC Wellness Products for Self-Care Sundays

I am a self-proclaimed product junkie. I will try the latest creams and potions faster than Sephora can promote them in my inbox. I have tried many products over the years and contemplated the product influencer life (OK, not really it was for like a minute). During the past year, I made a conscious effort to focus on BIPOC products. One reason was to lend my support to the BIPOC community and two because there are SO many amazing products our community produces and people need to know about them, so I wanted to get my hands on as many as possible. Here are five that I have added to my “favorites” list. Check them out and add them to your cart!

 1.     Epara Brightening Night Balm

This Black-owned brand is so good. I found their balm on Instagram and decided to try it out since I am always looking for some good products that work on hyperpigmentation. This stuff makes my skin so soft and supple. Every night when I put it on, I wake up feeling like my face had just the right amount of hydration to appear replenished throughout the day. I have noticed a significant reduction in old scars as well. Love seeing this luxe product in my cabinet. If you are looking for the next best moisturizing balm to try, grab this one!

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

 2.     Nopalera Soap

We have all heard of the “prickly pear” in high-priced beauty care items, right? Well to Mexican-Americans “prickly pear” is referring to what we know as the nopal cactus. It is not only an ancient Mexican culture symbol; it is one of the most powerful plants on Earth for skin and hair. I also came across this brand on Instagram and fell in love with their amazing packaging and ingredients. I purchased their Noche Clara Cactus soap and their Moisturizing Botanical bar. The soap was amazing for detoxing and the balm has been incredible on replenishing my dry skin on my hands from all of the COVID-19 washing. I not only fell in love with these products but the symbolism and message behind the brand make it a stand-out.

 3.     Harlem Candles

Sultry, invigorating, and dreamy. Those are the words I would use to describe these amazing candles. Inspired by the Harlem renaissance, I loved the way the candles looked on my mantel and the scents are amazing. I like to light one while working from home. It makes my space feel comfy and cozy. I especially love the “Josephine” and “Ellington” scents. Perfect for a night in and self-care Sunday bath time.

 4.     Golde Papaya Bright Face Mask

You know a face mask is doing its job when it gets on the Allure Best of Beauty list. This face mask is fantastic and really does the job at wakening up a dull complexion. For the past few years, I have been paying more attention to clean beauty products and this one checks all of the boxes for me. Just activate the powder with water, place it on your face and chill out before checking out the amazing results in the mirror. A beauty cabinet staple for me!

5.     Skin Care from Brujita

Brujita Skincare is an LA-based, Latina-owned and operated brand by Leah Guerrero who was inspired by her visits to Mexico City. I love that the brand handpicks key ingredients used in their products and are sustainable, raw, organic, and unrefined. I have been using their amazing Strawbaby Balm on some eczema flare-ups I have been getting during the COVID lockdown and it has worked miracles on my skin. Their essentials kit is perfect for an intro to the brand. The Hechizo facial serum is the perfect serum for your nighttime routine and the organic ingredients like prickly pear and maracuya feel amazing on the skin. Love the way this brand takes cues from our ancestors!
